mOVe! mentors of Orchestra Victoria education
mOVe! offers aspiring young musicians the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside professional musicians from Orchestra Victoria. Since the program's inception in 2003, hundreds of students from all over regional Victoria have taken part in these free 2-day workshops.
First held in Bendigo and Traralgon in 2003 with great success, mOVe! workshops are now held in Traralgon, Hamilton, Bendigo, Shepparton, Sunshine and Mildura.
About the workshops:
- mOVe! is a free, intensive two-day workshop for secondary school students learning orchestral instruments
- Around 12 of Orchestra Victoria's musicians attend the workshops - all are professional musicians with a passion for educating young people
- mOVe! includes full orchestra rehearsals conducted by a leading education specialist and sectional rehearsals led by Orchestra Victoria musicians
- An informal performance for friends and family takes place at the end of the second day
- Free professional development sessions for teachers and community musicians are also scheduled during mOVe!
- Teachers are welcome to observe all rehearsals
The mOVe! program is supported by Arts Victoria, VicHealth, Bendigo Bank, The Besen Family Foundation, The Colonial Foundation, The Collier Charitable Fund, The Gandel Charitable Trust, Helen Macpherson Smith Trust, The Ian Potter Foundation, The Jack Brockhoff Foundation, The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund – Eldon & Anne Foote Trust, The Myer Foundation, Margaret Stewardson Charitable Trust, The Trust Company, The William Angliss (Victoria) Charitable Fund and The William Buckland Foundation.
