Musicians – Permanent

Vacancies for permanent positions within the Orchestra are advertised in local and national newspapers approximately 4 weeks prior to audition dates. Applicants must prepare set pieces and orchestral excerpts (which are available at a specified time prior to the audition). Interstate or overseas applicants may submit a taped audition. It is the policy of Orchestra Victoria to give preference to applicants who are Australian citizens.

Salary Package:

$68,350 - $72,200 total package (inclusive of Superannuation and base allowances)

Audition Dates:

Monday 13 & Tuesday 14 October 2008
(Applicants must be available for both days)

Required Works:

Candidates are required to prepare the following:

1st & 2nd movements of ONE of the following Mozart concertos:
D Major K314 OR G Major K313
Plus a piece of the applicant’s choice with piano accompaniment
Plus Orchestral Excerpts available for collection on Friday 26 September 2008.

Auditions will be held at Iwaki Auditorium, ABC Studios, Southbank Victoria

Position Description:

Orchestra Victoria supports Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet and Victorian Opera. In addition the orchestra presents an extensive Community Program incorporating chamber performances, regional concerts and an exciting education program.

Orchestra Victoria seeks expressions of interest from violinists of outstanding ability interested in applying for the position of Concertmaster.

Salary and conditions of employment will be negotiable.
