Magnificent arias combine with marvellously ornate orchestral writing in one of Handel's greatest operas, Julius Caesar. This baroque masterpiece explores the transience of fame, rendering themes of warfare, passionate love, betrayal and heroic action focused around Caesar and his bewitching love affair with Cleopatra.
Julius Caesar showcases strong dramatic roles as well as sublime music. Orchestra Victoria performs Handel's magical score in the incredible acoustic of the Melbourne Recital Centre.
