Sunraysia music students will take part in Orchestra Victoria’s highly anticipated Education Workshop in Red Cliffs.
Close to 200 local students and teachers have fine-tuned their skills with Orchestra Victoria in the 4 years that Orchestra Victoria has travelled from Melbourne to Sunraysia to present the Education Workshop.
On 11 & 12 August the workshop will again enable 37 young musicians and local music educators to come together at Red Cliffs Secondary College, under the guidance of expert Orchestra Victoria musicians and conductor Dominic Harvey from Canberra.
After two days spent enhancing their skills, the students will perform a selection of works in a free concert for the community at 6.30pm on Wednesday 12 August. The concert provides an opportunity for the students to showcase their new skills and for the community to enjoy the sounds of a full orchestra featuring local rising stars.
Participating students are from Irymple Secondary College, Merbein Secondary College, Mildura Christian College, Mildura Senior College, Red Cliffs Secondary College, St Joseph’s College Mildura and Trinity Lutheran College.
Since the Education program began, and thanks to Orchestra Victoria’s donors, supporters, hundreds of students from all over Victoria have taken part in these free two day workshops. First held in Bendigo and Traralgon in 2003 with great success, the workshops are now held in Shepparton, Hamilton and Sunshine.
