About Monica

Monica Naselow began Suzuki violin lessons in Sydney at the age of four, and developed a keen interest in orchestral playing through the Sydney and Australian Youth Orchestras. She continued her orchestral training in Richard Gill’s ‘Sinfonia’ program at the Sydney Symphony, and at the Zurich Opera Orchestral Academy in Switzerland.

In 2002, Monica joined the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the Netherlands and spent the next ten years touring, recording, and performing in festivals and concert halls throughout Europe, Asia and the USA with conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Bernard Haitink and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and countless world-class soloists. In 2012, she returned to Australia with an international family in tow, living in Hobart as a member of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, then Darwin as the Concertmaster and Education/Outreach Officer of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra. Since 2018, she has lived in Melbourne, where she is Principal 2nd Violin with Orchestra Victoria.

As well as performing, Monica is actively involved with music education and outreach, and since joining OV has greatly enjoyed performing in the Sensory Concerts series and participating in 'One Day In January' led by Deborah Cheetham and Short Black Opera.

Monica Naselow's Principal Second Violin position is generously supported by Peter Griffin AM & Terry Swann.
