Philippa Gardner

A member of Orchestra Victoria since 1995, Philippa Gardner began piano lessons at the age of five, before taking up the cello at ten. She studied in Melbourne under Marian Hunt and Philip Green, before completing a performance degree at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Prof Tobias Kuehne. Philippa plays a Leopold Widhalm cello from 1790, and counts Opera Australia’s Melbourne Ring Cycle as a career highlight to date.
