About Robin

Robin Henry grew up in Melbourne and studied clarinet with Craig Hill at the University of Melbourne. Alongside his studies, Robin played with the Australian Youth Orchestra and the Sydney Sinfonia. In 2005 and 2006, Robin lived in Germany where he studied at the Felix Mendelssohn Hochschule in Leipzig. He completed a Masters degree in 2009 studying with MSO’s David Thomas, and, later, a Graduate Diploma of Education.

Robin is an active freelancer and has worked for many years with orchestras such as the Melbourne Symphony, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. As well as playing tutti and principal clarinet positions, Robin has played bass clarinet in many opera and ballet productions and in film and TV productions. Robin is also a member Syzygy Ensemble, a Melbourne-based chamber music group that has commissioned and played many new Australian works.
