About Evan

Evan Williams began having horn lessons at the age of 10 at the Newcastle Conservatorium. In 2001 he moved to Melbourne to study with Geoff Collinson and in 2004 he commenced further studies in Hamburg with the renowned hornist Ab Koster. The following year he won an audition for a contract in the north German city Kiel, where he worked for three and a half years.

In 2010, Evan returned to Australia for six months to perform as Associate Principal Horn of Orchestra Victoria, shortly before going back to Germany to take up a position as Associate Principal Horn of the Bavarian orchestra Würzburger Philharmoniker, a position he fulfilled until recently.

Evan is now currently in his trial period for the position of Associate Principal Horn of Orchestra Victoria. Aside from orchestral playing, his interests include chamber music and music therapy, a discipline in which he has a master’s degree.
